    pkg. yeast

  • 1/4

    c. warm water

  • 1

    egg

  • 1/4

    c. tomato sauce

  • 3

    tbsp. melted shortening

  • 1

    tbsp. sugar

  • 1

    tsp. salt

  • 1/2

    tsp. chili powder

  • Flour (at least 2 c)

Directions

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add egg, tomato sauce, shortening, sugar, salt and chili powder. Gradually stir in 2 cups of flour. Knead dough, slowly adding more flour to make a smooth dough. Let rise in greased bowl for about one hour. For a thick crust, spread on large greased cookie sheet (can be frozen at this time). Let rise until thick (about 30 min.). Can raise longer. Put on desired topping and bake in a moderately hot oven 375 for about 15 min. If crust was frozen, simply bring out of freezer to thaw and let rise. Put on topping and bake. The thickness of the crust can be varied by using larger or smaller pans to roll dough on.
