Ingredients

  • 5 lbs. beef and pork
  • 3 Tablespoons shortening
  • 3 onions, chopped
  • 4 oz. chopped green chilies
  • 14 oz green chili salsa (Salsa Verde)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 4 Tablespoon flour
  • 4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon cumina

Preparation

Step 1

Cook the beef and pork separately and slowly until meat falls apart. Let cool somewhat, and shred. Reserve the juice.

Saute onions and green chilies with the shortening for about 1 minute, or until translucent.

Add to the onion mixture the remaining ingredients, and simmer for 1 to 2 minutes.

Next add the shredded meat and meat juice, simmer for approximately 5 minutes, or until thickened.
