  • 4 C all purpose flour
  • 1 T salt
  • 1 T sugar
  • 1 1/2 C to 1 3/4 C shortening
  • 1/2 C cold water
  • 1 T distilled white vinegar
  • 1 large egg



Step 1

In a large bowl, stir with a fork the flour, salt and sugar. Cut in shortening until crumbly (pea size). In a small bowl, beat together water, vinegar and egg. Add to flour mixture until well moistened. Divide dough into 2 equal portions and shape in a flat round patty so it is ready for rolling. Wrap each in plastic wrap or wax paper and chill for at least 30 min.
*Hint: add more flour for rolling. Handling too much will not affect this dough. It will also keep in the frig for 3-5 days.
