Bubby Greenblatt’s Oil Pie Dough

If anyone can get this done the way my mother used to make, please let me know!!! I’ve tried (and failed).

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • Water (just enough to get to the right consistency)

Preparation

Step 1

Mix everything together. Form into a ball. Cut it in half and roll it out as thin as you can. Place over the pin plate and form into the bottom. Pierce the bottom in several places with a fork.
Do the same for the top. If using apples, slice them, mix them with sugar and a bit of flower in case they contain a lot of water and cinnamon. Fill the pie nice and high and then cover with the other half of the dough rolled out and edges pinched. Bake at 3:50 until golden brown.
