Ingredients

  • 2 C sliced onions, halved
  • 2 t concentrated beef base
  • 1/4 t pepper
  • 2 14 oz cans diced tomatoes undrained
  • 1/2 C water
  • 1 1/2 lbs beef round steak 1/2 inch tick, trimmed of fate, cut in serving size pieces

Preparation

Step 1

1/2 cup of condensed beef broth can be used in place of the concentrated beef base plus the water in this recipe (I used 1 C Swansons beef broth)

In dutch oven or 12 inch skillet, combine all ingredients except beef; mix well.
Place beef over tomato mixture. Bring to a boil
Stir gently
Reduce heat, cover and simmer 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until beef is tender
