Stuffed Onions

Ingredients

  • 6 lg onions
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1 apple, peeled, cored and chopped
  • 3/4 c stuffing, herb mix
  • 1/2 c cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 T chicken broth
  • 1/4 t celery seed
  • 1/4 t dried savory, crushed

Preparation

Step 1

Peel onions, cut bottom to make level. Cut top and hollow out, leaving about 1/4 in shells. Chop centers and tops to make 1 1/2 c. Cook bacon, add onions and apple and cook til tender. Remove. Stir in stuffing mix, cheese, broth and spices. Spoon mix into onions, arrange in baking dish, bake 350, 30 min or less.
