Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 4 eggs, separated
- 1 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2/3 cups milk
- 1/8 tsp grated orange rind
- 1/4 tsp orange extract
- 1/4 cup dry cocoa
- 1/4 cup water
Preparation
Step 1
Cream butter in a large bowl. Add sugar gradually and beat until fluffy. Beat in egg yolks one at a time. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with the milk. Fold in beaten egg whites until no white streaks remain. Spoon half of the batter int a second bowl; stir in orange rind and extract. Blend cocoa and water in a cup; fold into batter in the first bowl. Spoon batters alternating chocolate and white into the bottom of a bundt pan to make a layer. Repeat with remaining batters to make two more layers alternating white with chocolate. Do not stir. Bake for 1 hour at 375 degrees. Test with a toothpick.
