Ingredients

  • 1/4 c sugar
  • 2 T butter
  • 1 T corn syrup
  • 1 c flour
  • 1 T wheat germ
  • 1 1/2 t baking powder
  • 3 T shortening
  • 1/4 c milk
  • 1 T butter
  • 2 T sugar
  • 1/4 t grated orange peel
  • 1/4 c mini choc pieces

Step 1

In sm saucepan, combine brown sugar, 2 T butter and corn syrup. Heat til butter is melted and brown sugar dissolved. Evenly divide mix into six 6 oz ramekins; or spread on 9x13 pan. Set aside. In mixer bowl combine flour, germ, powder. Cut in shortening til mix resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk, stir til dough is just clings together. Place on floured surface. Knead gently 15-20 strokes. Roll into 10x6 rectangle. In sm saucepan melt 1 T butter, brush over dough. Combine sugar and orange peel, sprinkle over dhough. Sprinkle choc pieces over dough. Roll up dough jelly-roll style, seal seams. Slice into 1 in pieces, place cut side down in cups; or place on pan, cook 375, 25-30 min.
