Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1/3 cup hot water
- 4 cups milk
- 3 tbsp chocolate syrup
- 1/8 tsp peppermint extract
- Large marshmallows (for marshmallow hearts) or peppermint sticks, for garnish
Preparation
Step 1
Cut a heart shape out of several large marshmallows. Set aside. In a large saucepan, whisk cup sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually stir in hot water. Whisk very well. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
Add milk and chocolate syrup. Reduce heat and cook over low, stirring until very hot. Don’t let mixture boil. Stir in peppermint extract. Ladle into mugs. Garnish with marshmallow hearts or peppermint sticks.
