Buttermilk Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 c. Crisco (do NOT substitute butter, it’s just not as good!)
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 3 c. flour
  • 2 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla or lemon extract
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 5 eggs

Preparation

Step 1

Cream sugar and Crisco on High for about 2 minutes. Beat eggs and add ONE
AT A TIME. In a separate bow, mix buttermilk, and soda together. Add flour to first mixture, one cup at a time, alternating with buttermilk and soda mixture, and ending with buttermilk and soda mixture. Beat ‘til smooth, about 40 strokes, or 3 minutes. Bake at 300° in a bundt pan for 1 ½ hours.
