  • 1 cup 1 cup warm water
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon 1-1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 Tablespoons 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 3 cups 3 cups bread flour
  • 2-1/4 teaspoon 2-1/4 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 3 quarts 3 quarts boiling water
  • 3 tablespoons 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon corn meal
  • 1 1 egg white



Step 1

Place 1 cup warm water in bread machine, salt and 2 Tablespoons sugar, flour and yeast on top
Select Dough setting press and start
When cycle is complete let dough rest on a lightly floured surface a short time. Take a large stock pot bring 3 quarts water to boiling
Stir in 3 tablespoons white sugar
Cut dough into 9-10 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball it takes practice to get a nice round ball. Poke a hole in the middle of each with your thumb. Twirl the dough on your finger to enlarge the hole and even dough around hole. Cover bagels with a clean cloth and let rest for 10 min or until they have raised nice. Sprinkle a un greased cookie sheet with corn meal set it aside. Carefully transfer bagels with slotted spoon into boil water for 1 min turning half way through. Drain briefly on a clean towel. Once they all have been in boiling water transfer to cookie sheet with corn meal coating bottom of bagel. Glaze tops with egg whites and sprinkle with topping of your choice. (cinnamon & sugar, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, caraway seeds, onion, garlic or Italian spice )Bake for 20 min in preheated oven 375 degrees Take them out to cool for a short time and add cream cheese enjoy them any time.
