Ingredients
- 1 lb (2 cups) dry split peas
- 1 1/2 quarts water
- ---------------
- 1 carrot diced
- 1 small potato - cubed
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 8 - 10 oz ham portions
- 3 qts water
- salt
- pepper
- 12 oz can evaporated (skim )milk
- 2 T cornstarch
Preparation
Step 1
1. Soak peas in 1 1/2 qts water overnight; drain
2. Add remaining ingredients; simmer on stove 4 - 5 hours
3 Combine milk and cornstarch; add to soup and cook until thickened;season with salt and pepper as desired.
