Ingredients
- 1 pound self-rising flour
- 2 oz. sugar
- 4 oz. butter
- 1/2 pt. milk

Step 1
In bowl mix flour, sugar and butter until crumbled finely. Add milk and mix until it forms a ball. Sprinkle flour onto surface and place dough on floured surface. Sprinkle a little flour onto dou so it's not sticky. Gently shape dough to a circle and flatten to about 1 inche thick. Remember not to squash out all the air. With a biscuit cutter dipped into flour, cut dough and place on baking sheet. Mix together 1 egg and a splash of milk. Brush scones with egg mixture and bake at 4000 degrees for 12 minutes until lightly browned. Place scones on wire rack to cool completely. Serve with butter and jam if desired.
Makes 10 scones.
