Linguine with Clam sauce

Ingredients
- red sauce:
- 32 clams, scrubbed
- 1 c water
- 1/2 c dry white wine
- 1 c bottled clam juice
- 2 T olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1/2 c parsley
- 1/2 t crushed red pepper
- 2 t thyme
- s&p
- 1 lb linguine
- replace half clam juice with tomato puree or ground tomatoes

Preparation
Step 1
Put water and wine in lg pot and simmer over high heat. Reduce to med-high, add clams, cover tightly. Steam til opened, 7-8 min. Strain clam stock and add bottled to make 2 c. Put oil in saucepan and saute garlic. Discard garlic. Add clam juice, parlsey, pepper flakes and thyme. Bring to simmer. Cook linguine. Drain. Divide. Arrange clams around pasta and pour sauce over.
