Margarite's Chocolate Chip Date Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cup butter
  • 1 Cup sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 3/4 Cups flour
  • 1 Tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 Tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/4 Cups boiling water
  • 1/2 Lb dates
  • Topping
  • 1/2 Cup sugar
  • 1/2 Cup nuts
  • 1 Small package chocolate chips

Preparation

Step 1

Cream together butter and sugar
Add rest of ingredients in order given and mix

Boil 1 1/4 cups water
Cut up 1/2lb of dates
Pour boiling water over dates and let cool slightly
Add to dry ingredients
Make topping and pour over cake mixture
Bake at 350 for 50 minutes
