Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 cups flour
- 4 eggs (or 2 eggs and 4 yolks)
- 1 cup milk
- 2 t baking powder
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 t vanilla
- 1 t lemon
- 1/2 t almond
- 1/2 t nutmeg
- Icing
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 4 egg yolks
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 t vanilla
- Coconut
Preparation
Step 1
Grease and flour three loaf pans.
Bake 30-40 minutes at 300 degrees.
Cool.
Moisten with coconut milk.
Icing
Boil sugar and 1/2 cup water until it spins a thread.
Beat egg whites until stiff.
Add sugar syrup, beating all the while.
Add vanilla.
Spread layers and ice.
Cover with coconut.
Best to let sit a day or so in refrigerator.
