Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp golden corn syrup
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup butter (not margarine)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 1/4 cup slivered almonds
  • 1 pkg Hersey milk chocolate chips

Preparation

Step 1

Place slivered almonds on a cookie sheet and toast in oven until golden brown. Set aside.

Place syrup, butter, sugar, and water in large heavy saucepan and boil gently until hard crack forms on candy thermometer (300F or 150C). DO NOT STIR !!!! This step will take at least 20 minutes.

Remove from heat and stir in almonds. Stir well.

Place on ungreased cookie sheet, sprinkle with chocolate chips. As chips melt spread evenly. Place candy in fridge to cool (overnight) then remove and break into small pieces.
