Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 3/4 cup sugar, divided
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon

Preparation

Step 1

1. Mix flour, cream of tartar and baking soda in a large bowl, set aside. Beat 1 1/2 cups of the sugar, butter and shortening in a large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well. Gradually beat in flour mixture on low speed until well mixed. Refrigerate for 1 hour.

2. Preheat oven to 400F. Mix remaining 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon. Shape dough into 1” balls. Roll in cinnamon sugar mixture to coat. Place 2” apart on baking sheets.

3. Bake 9-11 mins or until lightly browned. Cool on baking sheets 1 min, then remove to wire racks to cool completely.
