Apple Raisin French Toast Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 c brown sugar
  • 1 t ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 c butter, melted
  • 3 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1/2 c raisins
  • 1 lb loaf French baguette, cut into one inch slices
  • 6 eggs lightly beaten
  • 1 1/2 c milk
  • 1 t vanilla extract
  • 2 t ground cinnamon

Preparation

Step 1

Grease a 9x13 baking dish. In a large bowl, mix together brown sugar and 1 t cinnamon. Mix in melted butter. Stir in apples and raisins until evenly coated. Pour into prepared pan. Arrange bread slices in an even layer over the apples.

In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, vanilla and 2 t cinnamon. Pour over the bread, making sure every slice is fully soaked. Cover with foil and refrigerate over night.

Preheat oven to 375. Remove dish from refrigerator and bake covered for 40 min. Serve hot with syrup if desired.
