Ingredients

  • Base:
  • 1 3/4 C all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 C granulated sugar
  • 1/2 C unsalted butter, melted
  • for anise:
  • 1/2 tsp. anise extract
  • 2 T whole anise, pulverized
  • for vanilla:
  • 2 T vanilla extract OR 1 vanilla bean scraped + 1 tsp. extract
  • for lemon:
  • 2 1/2 T fresh lemon juice
  • lemon zest to taste

Preparation

Step 1

Place flour & baking powder in a small bowl & stir to combine; reserve. Mix sugar & eggs on medium speed for 1 minute, until thickened. On low speed, add the melted butter & flavoring of choice in a steady stream and mix until combined, about 15 seconds. Add the flour mixture & mix until just combined, about 10-15 seconds; do not over mix.
