Ingredients

  • 1 Cup butter, softened
  • 2 Cups sugar
  • 4 Eggs
  • 3 1/3 Cups sifted flour
  • 2 Tsp baking powder
  • 1 Tsp salt
  • 1 Cup milk
  • 1 Cup chopped nuts
  • Grated peel of 2 lemons
  • Topping
  • 1/2 Cup sugar
  • Juice of 2 lemons

Details

Preparation

Step 1

Cream butter, sugar, and eggs
Mix flour with salt and baking powder
Add alternately with milk at low speed
Add nuts and lemon peel
Grease two 9x5x3 loaf pans
Bake at 350 for 1 hour
Combine topping and pour over loaves when out of oven
Cool thoroughly before removing from pan

*Freezes well
