Ingredients
- 1 1/3 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup finely chopped toasted pecans or walnuts
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk
- 1/3 cup cooking oil
Preparation
Step 1
1. Preheat oven to 350F. Grease and flour the bottom and 1/2 inch up the sides of a 9" loaf pan; set aside. In a small bowl stir together 1/3 cup of the sugar, the pecans, and cinnamon; set aside.
2. In a large bowl stir together the remaining 1 cup sugar, the flour, baking powder, and salt. In a medium bowl beat egg with a fork; stir in milk and oil. Add egg mixture to flour mixture all at once; stir just until moistened (batter should be lumpy).
3. Spread half of the batter in the prepared pan. Sprinkle with half of the cinnamon mixture. Repeat with remaining batter and cinnamon mixture. Using a wide rubber scraper, cut down through batter and pull up in a circular motion to marble the cinnamon mixture.
4. Bake in the preheated oven for 55 to 60 mins or until a wooden toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack for 10 mins. Remove from pan. Cool completely on wire rack. Wrap and store bread overnight before slicing.
