BARBECUE SAUCE

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 med red onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 TBS tomato paste
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 TBS molasses
  • 2 TBS brown sugar
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp spicy mustard
  • 1 TBS chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp kosher or sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground pepper

Preparation

Step 1

1. In a skillet, warm oil over medium heat and cook onion about 4 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Mix in remaining ingredients and simmer for 5 minutes.

2. Transfer mixture to a food processor or blender and process until smooth. Sauce will keep in the fridge for a month.
