Wasabi Rib Eye Steak

Ingredients

  • For the wasabi-onion smother:
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 teaspoons real wasabi paste
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 4 (10 ounce) rib eye steaks
  • 2 sweet onions, cut into 1/2 in slices
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • juice of 1 lime
  • 4 tablespoons real wasabi paste

Preparation

Step 1

Prepare the steaks: Mix all ingredients except steak. Rub mixture into both sides of steak, and marinate for 2 to 3 hours.

Prepare the wasabi-onion smother: In a saute pan, heat all ingredients except for the wasabi paste until onions are soft. Keep warm.

To serve: Prepare a grill or grill pan, and grill steaks for 7 minutes, or until desired doneness. Top steaks with onions, then top with wasabi paste.
