Ingredients
- For the wasabi-onion smother:
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 teaspoons real wasabi paste
- 1/2 cup canola oil
- 4 (10 ounce) rib eye steaks
- 2 sweet onions, cut into 1/2 in slices
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
- juice of 1 lime
- 4 tablespoons real wasabi paste
Preparation
Step 1
Prepare the steaks: Mix all ingredients except steak. Rub mixture into both sides of steak, and marinate for 2 to 3 hours.
Prepare the wasabi-onion smother: In a saute pan, heat all ingredients except for the wasabi paste until onions are soft. Keep warm.
To serve: Prepare a grill or grill pan, and grill steaks for 7 minutes, or until desired doneness. Top steaks with onions, then top with wasabi paste.
