Ingredients

  • 2

    sticks softened butter

  • 3/4

    cup sugar

  • 1

    tsp vanilla

  • 1

    egg

  • dash of salt

  • 2 1/4 - 2 1/2

    cups all-purpose flour

  • 1

    tsp baking powder

  • food coloring (optional)

  • colored crystals

Directions

Cream butter and sugar in a food processor or mixer; then add egg, vanilla, and salt. Combine flour and baking powder in a separate bowl. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter and sugar mixture until the dough is formed but not sticky. Add a desired food coloring and mix it into the dough. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or use an ungreased cookie sheet. Pack dough into a cookie press. Press into desired shapes and sprinkle with colored crystals. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 12 minutes or until lightly brown around the edge. Cool on cookie sheet for two minutes before placing on a wire rack.
