Ingredients
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1/3 cup red wine vinegar
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- 2-3 Tbl. packed brown sugar
- 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
- 1 cup medium yellow onion, chopped
- 1 cup stalks celery, chopped
- 1/2 cup green bell pepper, chopped
- 3 large cloves garlic, chopped
- 1-2 Tbl. chili powder
- 1 tsp. dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
Step 1
In a medium bowl, combine tomatoes, red wine vinegar, ketchup and brown sugar. Stir to dissolve sugar, set aside. In a large skillet combine ground beef with remaining ingredients. Cook over high heat 8 - 10 minutes, stirring to crumble beef. Stir in tomato mixture. Reduce heat to medium and cook, uncovered, 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve in buns, or over hot-cooked pasta.
