Ingredients
- 2 1/2 to 3 lb pork shoulder roast
- 1 c apple juice or cider
- 2 T reduced sodium soy sauce
- 2 T hoisin sauce
- 1 1/2 t five spice powder
- 8 whole wheat hamburger buns, split and toasted
- 2 c shredded chinese (napa) cabbage
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced

Preparation
Step 1
Trim fat from roast. Fit in a slow cooker even if you have to cut it down.
In a small bowl, combine apple juice, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and five spice powder. Pour over roast.
Cover and cook on low heat setting for 10-12 hrs or on hight heat for 5-6 hours.
Remove the meat, reserving the cooking liquid. Remove meat from bone and discard. Using two forks shred the meat and discard any fat. Place 1/2 c meat on each bun bottom. Top with 1/4 c shredded cabbage; add bun tops. Skim fat from cooking liquid and serve 3 T cooking liquid each in bowls for dipping. sprinkle liquid with green onions.
