Bacon and Blue Cheese Dip

Ingredients

  • 6 slices bacon
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, pressed or finely minced
  • 1-8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup cream or half and half
  • 4 ozs blue cheese, room temperature
  • 2 tbsp chives, chopped
  • salt and red pepper to taste
  • 1/3 c toasted pecans, chopped
  • Toasted Pita wedges or pita chips
  • green apples, cut into slices

Step 1

In a skillet, cook bacon until crisp and place on paper towels to drain. Pour all but about 1 tbsp of bacon grease from skillet. Saute garlic in skillet for 30-60 seconds. In an oven safe bowl, mix cream cheese, cream and blue cheese until blended. Add crumbled bacon, chives and salt and pepper to taaste. Top with chopped pecans. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes or until bubbly. Serve with toasted pita chips and apple slices.
