Ingredients

  • Cookies:

  • 1

    cup butter

  • 1 1/2

    cups sugar

  • 2

    eggs

  • 2

    tsp vanilla

  • 2

    Tbs cream

  • 4 1/2

    cups sifted flour

  • 2

    tsp baking powder

  • 1

    tsp salt

  • Icing:

  • 1/2

    cup soft butter

  • 3

    cups sifted powdered sugar

  • 1 1/2

    tsp vanilla

  • 3

    Tbs cream

Directions

Cookies: Let butter soften to room temperature. Cream until light and fluffy. Gradually add sugar, eggs, cream, and vanilla. Sift together 3 cups flour, baking powder, and salt. Add gradually to butter mixture, stirring not beating. Add half of remaining flour. Add enough of remaining flour to make dough stiff enough for rolling. Chill thoroughly. On a lightly floured board, roll out to 1/8 inch thick and cut with cookie cutter. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Icing: Blend butter and sugar. Stir in vanilla and cream until smooth. Color as desired.
