Great way to use round steak

  • 2 slices top round steak
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Pepper
  • 1/8 tsp ground red pepper
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 Tblsp flour
  • 2 Tblsp butter, melted
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 1/2 c. chopped celery
  • 1 can tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 c. water
  • 2 c. reg grits, uncooked



Step 1

Pound steak to 1/4". Cut into 2" squares.
Combine salt and next 3 ingredients and rub into meat; sprinkle with flour. Brown 1/3 of meat at a time on both sides in butter; set aside.

Add onion, celery and cook til tender about 5 min. Add tomatoes and 1 c. water. Return steak to skillet. Cover and reduce heat, simmer 30 min. Turn meat and simmer, covered and additional 15 min or til tender.

Cook grits according to pkg directions. Serve steak over grits.
