RICH DARK CHOCOLATE GLAZE OR FROSTING

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. semisweet or bittersweet chocolate finely chopped 3/4 cup whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter softened

Preparation

Step 1

Place chocolate in medium bowl. Microwave cream in medium glass measuring cup on high 1-2 inutes or until cream comes to a boil, immediately pour cream over chocolate, stir until smooth. Cool until just slightly warm, stir in butter until melted.

To glaze cake: Brush off any loose crumbs from cake, place on wire rack set over rimmed baking sheet. With metal spatula, spread about 1/3 of the ganache over top and sides of cake to set crumbs. Refrigerate 10 minutes or until cold. Return cake to rack, pour reamining ganache over cake, spreading quickly over top and sides.

To frost cake: Cool ganache 5 minutes or until of spreading consistency. Spread ganache over cake as desired.
