CANNED BREAD

This recipe is actually made from a number 2 can that has been washed and greased. A very old recipe from my mom. A brown round bread with raisins, not too sweet but unique flavor.

Because this bread is so unique, it can be wrapped up in colored cellaphane with tafita and given for gifts.

Ingredients

  • Mix together:
  • 1-1/2 cups raisins
  • 2-tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • Then mix together the following:
  • 1-cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1-teaspoon vanilla
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1-teaspoon soda
  • Nuts optional

Preparation

Step 1

Fill No. 2 cans ½ fill.

Bake 25 to 30 minutes or longer.

Makes three cans.
