Aunt Margaret's Icing

Ingredients

  • 9 Tbsp. sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. water
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 lb. and 1 cup powdered sugar (sifted)
  • 1 C. Crisco
  • Almond flavoring
  • food coloring

Preparation

Step 1

Boil the first 2 ingredients for a few minutes. (5 - 10)

In a bowl, beat the egg whites until frothy.

In another bowl beat the Crisco and powdered sugar. Add the egg whites to this and mix. Lastly, add the sugar, water mixture. Pour it in slowly until just the right texture. Add flavorings and food coloring as desired.
