DILL PICKLES

Ingredients

  • 1 quart water
  • 1 pint vinegar (2 cups)
  • 1 tablespoon mustard seed
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 1 tablespoon dill seed
  • 10-12 cups cucumbers, sliced

Preparation

Step 1

Mix water, vinegar, mustard seed, sugar and salt. Boil for 2 minutes.

Pack clean jars with prepared cucumbers, add 1 tablespoon of dill seed to each jar.

Pour boiling brine into clean, hot jars to cover cucumbers, seal tightly.

Put jars into a hot water bath and bring to a boil until they change color.

Shut off canner, let jars cool in the water.

Take jars out of canner when cooled, be sure thery are sealed tight.

Let sit for a few days before eating.
