Ingredients
- 7 C. milk (about)
- 1 1/2 C. sugar
- 8 egg yolks (give or take)
- 4 to 5 heaping Tblsp. cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- a pat of butter
Preparation
Step 1
In a double boiler, scald the milk. Add half of the sugar to it and stir until dissolved. Beat the egg yolks and add the remaining sugar to it and stir. Then add the cornstarch and salt. Mix well then add to scalded milk. Stir constantly until it thickens. Just before taking it off the stove, add vanilla and butter and mix well. Let cool.
Use as pudding or pour over bananas in a crust for banana cream pie.
