Preparation

Step 1

In a ziploc bag, marinade whole water chestnuts with some soy sauce and brown sugar overnight in the refrigerator.

Precook the bacon just a bit - so it takes less time at the end to bake the finished product.

Remove water chestnuts from marinade. Roll each water chestnut in brown sugar (you should have 1/2 cup brown sugar in a bowl for this - you may need more). Wrap 1/2 of a piece of bacon around each water chestnut and secure with a toothpick and place on baking sheet.

If you like them sweeter, sprinkle a bit more brown sugar on top.

Cook for 30 - 40 minutes in 350 oven (more or less, depends on if you precook the bacon or not). Watch to make sure they do not burn.

Serve with plum sauce.

You can reheat in oven - or my favourite is in the microwave for a minute or two
