Banana Pudding - from scratch

Ingredients

  • 1 cup+2 Tbs sugar
  • 3/4 cup+3 Tbs flour
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 2 boxes Nilla Vanilla Wafers
  • 4 cups milk
  • 4 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 2 Tbs vanilla extract
  • 4 or 5 bananas

Preparation

Step 1

In a double boiler melt butter then add flour. Mix well with a whisk then add sugar and salt. Gradually add milk and eggs. Stir constantly with a whisk as it heats up to prevent lumping. Add vanilla and continue stirring until noticeably thicker. Remove from heat. In a deep casserole dish, layer sliced bananas to cover bottom. Next add a layer of vanilla wafers. Cover these layers with pudding mixture and repeat as many times as your dish allows and until you run out of pudding. End with a layer of vanilla wafers. This is good warm or cold.
