APPLE PIE****

Ingredients

  • crust:
  • 3 different kinds of apples
  • 3/4 c. granulated sugar
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp. margarine
  • Tapioca
  • Milk and sugar
  • 5 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 4 tsp. brown sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 lb. Tenderflake Lard
  • 4 tsp. vinegar
  • 1 egg
  • Enought water to make 3/4 c. liquid.

Preparation

Step 1

Make pie cust. Mix dry ingredients and add lard and cut it into small pieces. Add the vinegar, egg and water and mix until it becomes a ball.

Flour smooth surface and roll out dough and put into pie shell. Poke with fork.

Sprinkle tapioca over the bottom of the shell.

Add two layers of apples then sprinkle with some of the sugar mixture, add another two layers of apples and then more sugar mixture until it is as high as you want.

Top it with margarine.

Top with top rolled out dough. Cut slitts in the top crust and brush with milk and sprinkle with sugar.

Bake 425 for 30 - 40 minutes.
