WHOLE WHEAT BREAD

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 4 tablespoons dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm water
  • 5 cups whole wheat flour, divided

Preparation

Step 1

Heat milk till good and hot, but not scalding. Add oil, salt, and honey.

Pour into a large mixing bowl and let cook to lukewarm.

Dissolve dry yeast in lukewarm water in a small bowl, for 4 to 5 minutes. Add to honey mixture, mix well.

Add 3 cups whole wheat flour and mix for 5-6 minutes with electric mixer, slowly.

Add 2 more cups of flour and mix with hands. Add additional flour if needed.

Knead with hands, keep turning dough over, until smooth and not sticky.

Place in oiled bowl and let rise until double in size, approximately 45 to 60 minutes.

Place dough in an oiled loaf pan or divide into rolls.

Bake at 350° F. for 35 to 45 minutes.
