3 simple syrup-based mixers

Ingredients

  • 3 cups water
  • 2 cups raw sugar
  • 1 watermelon
  • 1 cantaloupe
  • 1 honeydew melon
  • 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 cup melon liqueur
  • 7 lemons
  • 7 limes
  • 1 vanilla bean, sliced open
  • 1/2 cup limoncello liqueur
  • 1/2 cup hulled and quartered organic ripe strawberries
  • 1/3 cup organic blackberries
  • 1/3 cup organic blueberries
  • 1/2 red Thai chile, seeded and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup of strawberry liqueur
  • bottles of Van Gogh Vodka
  • 1 bottle of carbonated water
  • Gear
  • Medium pot
  • Melon baller
  • Zester
  • 3 medium mixing bowls

Preparation

Step 1

Simple Syrup
Bring the water and raw sugar to a boil in a medium-sized pot over medium-high heat, and simmer for 3 minutes to reduce slightly. Take it off the heat, and refrigerate until completely cold. Divide the syrup equally among 3 medium bowls.

Melon Mixer
Use a melon baller to make balls out of each melon. To a bowl of chilled simple syrup add the melon balls, mint leaves, and melon liqueur. Stir and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Lemon Lime Mixer
Zest and juice 7 lemons and 6 limes. To a bowl of simple syrup, add the citrus zest, vanilla, the juice of the zested lemons and limes, and the limoncello liqueur. Slice the remaining lemon and lime into 3/4-inch-thick slices and add them to the bowl. Stir and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Spicy Berry Mixer
To a bowl of simple syrup add all the berries, sliced Thai chile, and strawberry liqueur. Stir and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Shkiaffing it Together
Serve the bowls of the mixers alongside bottles of chilled Van Gogh Vodka and ice.
