Preparation

Step 1

While I'm preparing my rack of ribs I turn a 4 - 6 quart (whatever the ribs will fit in) to high, with the lid on.

Make sure you remove the slick, filmy looking membrane from the back side of the ribs.... this is VERY important.

If you have to cut the ribs in half in order for them to fit into the crock pot, do so now.

While the crock pot is continuing to heat mix the dry rub (which can be found in the spice isle of the grocery store) and the brown sugar together.

Liberally apply the mixture to both sides of the ribs. Let them sit for 15 minutes once you've rubbed the mixture in.

In the meantime ball up 4 (12" ) pieces of aluminum foil and place in the bottom of the crock pot. This is going to keep the ribs off of the bottom of the crock pot and therefore off of direct heat.

Place the ribs in the crock pot and continue to cook on high for an hour. After an hour turn the crock pot to low. Cook on low for 3 hours.

Serve with your favorite barbecue sauce.
