Ingredients
- 1-1/2 lbs. ground beef
- 1-1/2 cups bread crumbs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1-3/4 teas. Salt
- 3/4 teas. Dill seed
- 1/4 teas. Allspice
- 1/8 teas. Nutmeg
- 1 Tbls. horseradish
- 3 Tbls. butter
- 5-6 Tbls. cooking sherry
- 1 Tbls. molasses
- 10-1/2 oz. beef broth
- 1/8 teas. Pepper
- 1/4 teas. Salt
- 1-1/2 teas. Dill seed
Preparation
Step 1
Soak crumbs in milk for 5 minutes. Add meat, eggs, onion and spices (through horseradish). Mix well and refrigerate, covered, for one hour. Shape into 1” balls and brown lightly in the hot butter. Put in crockpot. Mix cooking sherry, molasses, beef broth with pan drippings. Add ¼ t. salt, 1-1/2 teas. Dill seed to crockpot. Cook covered on low for 4-6 hours.
