Ingredients

  • 6

    cups dice firm white bread, cubed

  • 1/2

    cup melted butter/margarine

  • 1

    teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/2

    teaspoon ground cloves

  • 1/2

    cup sugar

  • 1

    (1 pound 4 oz.) can pie sliced apples, drained

  • 1/2

    cup chopped almonds

  • 1

    cup shredded sharp Cheddar Cheese

  • 1 1/2

    cups Port Wine

Directions

Mix bread and butter/margarine in large skillet. Stir over medium heat until cubes of bread are golden brown. Remove from heat and add cinnamon, cloves and sugar. Pour half the mixture into a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan. Top with apples, almonds and cheese. Cover with remaining bread mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 45 minutes or until heated through and top is brown and crusty. Spoon into individual serving bowls. Heat wine until steaming. Add hot wine as desired to pudding. Makes 6 servings.
