Oatmeal Gingersnaps Recipe

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup quick-cooking oats
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- Additional sugar
Preparation
Step 1
1. In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugar until
light and fluffy.
2. Beat in egg and molasses.
3. Combine the dry ingredients; gradually add to
creamed mixture and mix well.
4. Roll into 1-in. balls; roll in additional sugar.
5. Place 2 in. apart on greased baking sheets. Flatten
with a glass dipped in sugar.
6. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes or until set (do not
overbake).
7. Remove to wire racks to cool.
Yield: about 3-1/2 dozen.
