Ingredients
- Filling:
- 6 cups tart apple slices (I used 5 med to large sized apples)
- 1/2 c brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp flour
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp allspice (I didn't have this on hand,
- so I used a few dashes of nutmeg and cloves)
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
- Crisp Topping:
- 1 1/4 c flour
- 1/2 c brown sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 c butter, melted
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 425. Combine dry ingredients for filling in a bowl. Set aside. Peel, core, and slice apples. Add to dry ingredients. Add vanilla and lemon juice. Stir together, coating apples well.
Pour into pie crust.
Combine dry topping ingredients in another bowl. Add melted butter. Combine until soft dough forms. Sprinkle over top of pie, covering as completely as possible.
Cover pie loosely with foil. Bake for 20 mins at 425. Reduce heat to 375 and bake for an additional 35 mins. Remove from oven, and enjoy (preferably with ice cream).
