Homemade Wine

Ingredients

  • 1 gallon chokecherries, plums or apples
  • 3 gallons water
  • 10 pounds sugar, divided
  • 1/2 -3/4 cup yeast

Preparation

Step 1

Mash fruit; add water and bring to a boil
Add sugar; stir to disslove
Cool
Add yeast
Mix well and let sit for 2 weeks covered with a loose lid*; stir ocassionally

After 2 weeks, drain off fruit, saving juice
Add 5 pounds sugar
Let stand 6 weeks
Strain and bottle














*Don't put the lid on tight or the fermenting process will blow it off
