GREEN PAPAYA SALAD

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. green papaya
  • 2 garlic cloves, sliced
  • 3 to 4 red or green chili peppers, seeded
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced into strips
  • 2 Tbsp. fish sauce
  • 4 Tbsp. lime juice
  • 1/3 cup dried shrimp
  • Lettuce leaves
  • limes, cut into wedges
  • Garnish: red or green chili peppers

Preparation

Step 1

Peel and seed the papaya and shred. Chop the garlic and chili peppers very finely or use a mortar and pesde to crush. Mix together the papaya, tomato, fish sauce, lime juice and dried shrimp. Add in the garlic/chili mixture. Place a portion of papaya mixture onto lettuce leaves and eat with your hands as a packet. Serve with wedges of lime. Garnish with red chili peppers.
