Ingredients

  • 1 medium yellow onion, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 lb hamburger
  • 2 packages of McCormick Chili Seasoning
  • 15 oz kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 15 oz chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 15 oz black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 3 tablespoons hot sauce
  • green onions, minced
  • 8 oz sour cream
  • 1/2 pound cheddar cheese, grated

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oil in a large dutch oven over low heat. Add the sausage and hamburger. Stir to break the meat into small pieces. Cook over low heat until browned; about 15 min. To the same pan add the onion and garlic. Stir. Cook over low heat until onions are soft; about 10 min. While the meat mixture is cooking, add the tomato paste to the diced tomatoes, and break up with a knife. After cooking the meat for 10 minutes, sprinkle the seasoning packets over the meat and onions, stir. Add the beans, tomato paste and diced tomatoes. Stir. Bring to a low simmer. Cover with a lid. Cook over low heat for 60 min. Stir often to prevent sticking. Right before serving stir in the hot sauce. Serve in big bowls with your favorite garnishes on top. Serve. Eat.
