- 1 lb Navy Beans
- salt pork
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp baking soda
Soak beans overnight covered with water.
In the morning, look for dark beans and pull them out. Drain and cover with fresh water, add salt pork whole, and brown sugar. Add baking soda, Cover, cook for 2 hrs.
Slice salt pork, put in frying pan. Add grease to beans.
Put beans in baking bowl-put bowl in sink-strainer in bowl, dump beans.
Keep liquid-pour juice on top of beans to cover. Add liquid as needed.
Bake uncovered 350 degres 2 1/2 hrs.
