  • 2 c flour
  • 1/2 c dry powdered milk
  • 1 T baking powder
  • 3/4 t salt
  • 2 T shortening
  • 3/4 c lukewarm water
  • Oil for frying

Preparation

Step 1

In bowl, combine flour, dry milk, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening until it resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in water until dough clings together. Knead 8-10 minutes. Divide into 12 balls. Cover and let rest 10 minutes. Cover and let rest 10 minutes. Roll each ball as thin as you can get it with a rolling pin adding more flour if necessary. Fry in very not oil a few seconds on each side. Drain on paper towels. Serve with butter and powdered sugar, or jelly.
